Why one flat rate across the whole area

Here is something the national booking sites never explain. There is no operating sanitary landfill in Clay, Platte, Clinton, DeKalb, Caldwell, Ray or Andrew County — that's from Missouri DNR's own list of operating facilities. Every load we pull out of the Northland travels down to Courtney Ridge in Sugar Creek, over in Jackson County. St. Joseph is the exception: Buchanan County has the city-owned St. Joseph Sanitary Landfill, which is why turnarounds there can be quicker.

That haul is a real cost, and most companies pass it on as a travel surcharge the further out you are. We don't. Lathrop and Plattsburg pay what Liberty and Gladstone pay. The tradeoff is that the 2-ton allowance is a genuine limit rather than a formality, and overage is $75 per ton — which we publish up front precisely so nobody gets surprised.

Permits, briefly

A dumpster sitting entirely on your own driveway or private property generally does not require a permit anywhere we serve. The moment it goes in the public right-of-way, the rules change and they vary by city. Kansas City, MO issues a dumpster permit through its CompassKC portal. Gladstone has a dedicated Dumpster Permit and an ordinance chapter to match. Kearney, Smithville, Platte City, Plattsburg and Excelsior Springs all require written permission from the City for containers on public property. For the remaining towns we could not verify the rule from published code, so we check with the City for your specific address rather than publish a guess. Either way: tell us the address and we sort it out before we deliver.

What actually fits in each size

The 15 yard handles

  • A standard two-car garage cleanout
  • An average basement
  • One bathroom gut, or a single-room remodel
  • Carpet and flooring from a main level
  • A residential deck teardown
  • Brush, limbs and yard waste

Step up to the 20 yard for

  • Roof tearoffs — weight, not volume, is the reason
  • A full kitchen remodel
  • Whole-house or estate cleanouts
  • Garage plus basement in one go
  • Outbuilding or shed demolition
  • Anything you're genuinely unsure about

Not sure? Describe the pile on the phone or text us a photo. We would rather talk you into the smaller container and be right than sell you the bigger one and watch it go back half empty.

What you can and can't put in it

Goes in without a problem

  • Household junk, furniture and mattresses
  • Construction and demolition debris
  • Drywall, plaster, lumber and framing
  • Roofing shingles, felt and flashing
  • Carpet, flooring and cabinetry
  • Yard waste, brush and storm debris
  • Appliances without refrigerant

Can't go in

  • Paint, solvents, oils and chemicals
  • Batteries of any kind
  • Tires
  • Refrigerators, freezers and AC units with refrigerant still in them
  • Asbestos or anything classed as hazardous
  • Medical waste and sharps

Not sure about one item? Text a photo to 816-750-DUMP before it goes in. That thirty-second question has saved a lot of people a return trip.

How it works

  1. Call, text or book online. Tell us what the project is and roughly what's going in. We'll recommend a size rather than upsell one, and quote you a flat price on the spot.
  2. We deliver to your address. Often same or next day. We set boards under the rails on driveway placements and put the container where you're actually working, not just at the top of the drive.
  3. Fill it on your schedule. Three days or seven, whichever you booked. Load heavy flat items first and fill the gaps — most people who need a second container filled the first one with air.
  4. Tell us you're done. Call or text and we'll pick it up. If you're near the weight allowance, say so and we'll talk through the cheapest way to handle it before we haul.

Dumpsters by project

Don't see your town?

The list above is where we go regularly, not a fence. If you're near it, call or text 816-750-DUMP and we'll tell you honestly whether we can serve you well or whether you're better off with someone closer. We'd rather say no than deliver badly.
